Converge, Axe To Fall, Review

Converge has yet again succeed in melting and ripping off the faces of anyone who dare to listen. Their recent album, Axe To Fall, their follow up from, No Heroes (A must listen also), is everything and more to expect from the Salem boys. Fast, aggressive, packs a thousand fists there really is nothing else to say other than its just fucking sick.

Musicanship Rating = 9/10
Lyrics Rating = 8/5
Overall Rating = 9/10

Stand Out Tracks
1. Dark Horse
2.Reap What You Sow
6. Wishing Well
7. Damages

I recommend this to all who enjoy hardcore, converge and any thing on the verge of insanity.

The Fall Of Troy, In The Unlikely Event, review

The Fall Of Troy is a amazing experimental hardcore band that don't sound like any one else with their amazing musicality and above average melodies. If Dillenger Escape Plan had a child with At The Drive In, The Fall Of Troy would be the bastard sons. Indifferent band from the rest. Thou with that said their most recent release, In The Unlikely Event, is a huge let down.

I won't be a bitch and feed you leaves and berries. I'm gonna feed you the branches, dirt and bark. This album is shit. I regret purchasing it. Being a huge fan of The Fall Of Troy, I've given it more than 10'000 tries. Its just bad, almost hard to listen to. The only saving grace is the music. At least the music hasn't lost its drive but its almost over shadowed by the dismal lyrics and the toneless vocals. It sounds like Thomas is trying to hit the right notes but the effect is just gross.

Musicianship Rating = 9/10
Lyrics Rating = 1/10
Overall Rating = 2.5/10

I don't recommend this record to anyone on the bases that it is absolutely dismal.

Strung Out, Agents Of The Underground Review

Strung Out, never ceases to impress with their punk, fast pace beats and increasingly impressive guitar riffs. Their new album Agents of the Underground is definitely worth a listen. I mean its no Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues but its still worth a good listen. All of Strung Outs release have been amazing from 1994 to now, They keep bringing us amazing songs. Agents of the Underground is a slight change in sound for Strung Out with a bit more harmony and melody but they don't stray for from their selves.

Musicianship Rating = 7.8/10
Lyrics Rating = 7/10
Overall Rating = 7.8/10

Stand out Tracks
1. Black Crosses
6. Ghetto Heater
7. Agents of the Underground

8. Nation Of Thieves

9. Jack Knife
11. Andy Warhol

I recommend Agents of the Underground to all who listen to Strung Out, Bad Religion and Pennywise. Ruth

....And Then There Was a Crash....

"Crash Love" the 8th studio album by the Bay Area punk veterans AFI has been released to the World and I must say it came with shock. "Crash Love", unlike its predecessor flows perfectly from song to song and its by far the best mainstream release since 2003's Sing The Sorrow. It truly shows the growth that Ukiah quartet has gone through. While there are a few weak songs on this album, it certainly delivers the best with notable tracks such as; Torch Song, Sacrilege, Okay, I Feel Better Now and Cold Hands to name a few.

Unfortunately, the one problem that is wrong is that fact that it was less guitar driven than I hoped it would be, but nonetheless this is an amazing record and should not be written off by any AFI fan. If you have yet to crash into love (bring on the bad puns!) I suggest you do so without a moments notice.

Stand out tracks:
Cold Hands
Okay, I Feel Better Now
